there is a hierarchy of infinities

Georg Cantor, one of the most brilliant mathematicians ever, did much to help us understand infinity. Then he ended up in the loony bin :)

Infinity is quite fascinating mathematically. For example, imagine a hotel with an infinite number of rooms. Now imagine that all the rooms are booked up, and an infinite number of new guests show up. What to do? You simply ask each current guest to move to the room number 2n, where n is their current room number. Voila! You have freed up an infinite number of rooms for your infinite number of new guests. Doesn't that make your head spin?
