There is a lot potential crime and racial or social unrest in California. Although large black populations in La are slowly being displaced by Latinos, the potential of a Watts-like riot is still there. Increasingly, it is the militant Latinos that are pushing the envelope of law enforcement tolerance. Population densities exacerbate crime and the Bay Area Metro is fairly dense with 1,100 ppl/sq. mi, but it pales with the 7,068 ppl/sq. mi. in the La basin, which is the most densely populated metro area in the Us. Personal safety is compromised from both sides as crime increases and the ever expanding list of banned weapons threatens your ability to defend yourself. The cost of living is high and housing costs are still to high even after declining one third their boom time values.
