I personally don't plan on having kids but it has nothing to do with the state of the world. Well.... ok, maybe a little, but mostly I just don't want kids and never really have despite how much I love being around kids.
My sister just had a kid. Her and her husband both have decent stable jobs, they invest wisely and have a shtf plan. However, you can never fully prepare for a shtf situation and they are aware of that. They wanted to start a family so they did. I don't think it was immoral.
I do think considering the state of the world as is, it is probably wise to really take a look around and consider all the details that go into raising a family.
