A friend of mine was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis when her vision suddenly changed. She was found to have a detached retina and at the time they believed it had been transmitted by years of cleaning out her roommate's cat's litter box. She never had any psychological presentation and is doing well now although she won't get within 10 feet of a cat.
Litter boxes are considered a prime source of infection and after this I kept a face mask handy and washed my hands well when I had an indoor cat.
