Across the globe, the Easter celebrations are in full flow. Easter is a commemoration of the martyrdom of Jesus, at the hands of the Pharisees, or as we would now call them, the Elders of Jewry. Easter is a solemn and sombre occasion for reflection; it is a religious time, which is completely divorced from any expressions of materialism. At least that is how it is supposed to be in the Christian world.
