None of the founders who signed the Declaration of Independence were deists. They were all Christians, attended various churches, the churches they attended are known, etc.
In point of fact, you had to be a Christian to hold office or be a citizen. At least half of the State constitutions of 1776 had the requirement, others in the existing laws. Pennsylvania for instance required you to believe in the Christian Bible - the old and new testament.
So name one founder (one) that was a deist, since it's hard to be one when it excluded ability to hold office and citizenship. And btw, you can't say "Thomas Paine", because - as above, he wasn't a citizen.
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
