Comment: You're losing me.

(See in situ)

You're losing me.

For a site that is supposed to be about LIBERTY to have so many here bash bitcoin is troubling. You fail to see that what it was designed to do was to promote and enhance liberty.

Excerpt from a blog by the creator of it from 2010 before he disappeared.

"[Bitcoin is] completely decentralized, with no central server or trusted parties, because everything is based on crypto proof instead of trust. The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that’s required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts… With e-currency based on cryptographic proof, without the need to trust a third party middleman, money can be secure and transactions effortless."

All of us here love gold and silver. We don't need to anyone to preach over and over how great it is and how it's been money for thousands of years... We know... Most early bitcoiners are also gold bugs. But everything evolves. This could end the banking families paper cartel if enough people put just a little bit into it. We have had central banking for over 200 years and look what it's done. If this helps end that reign of terror I am in! I would think everyone else here would be behind it as well...
