The Bible is one book exactly. It's 66 compiled into one book I suppose.

Rome wasn't the Bible corrupter exactly either. That began with the gnostic s in the 2nd century. By the 3rd century, the corruption was complete and this corruption can be seen reflected in the modern bible translations since 1880. This is known as the Alexandrian text.
The Authorized Version or KJV is translated from a different line of manuscripts known as the Received Text of which the majority of manuscripts bear witness of. This is what the Protestant Churches used to believe as their final authority.
There are serious doctrinal differences between these two lines and with so many "new" translations, there is no more final authority.
Rome has usurped Biblical authority and used it to its advantage for sure.

I don't wait exactly for the s-u-n either. Although I get you meaning.
