You're right. In my view, a truly libertarian perspective would be the antithesis of racism, because it would encompass the recognition of the worth of each unique individual. However, some in this movement wish not to simply try to reform the term "conservative," but rather to embrace some of its more negative connotations.
While it is possible to be politically a libertarian and embrace some racist attitudes, this is an unstable situation, eventually requiring reevaluation of either the racism or the belief in liberty.
