I wouldn't worry

Most likely is due to the activities of the people that you DID know at the wedding and who were already on your friends list, such as: tagging photos, requesting friends they met at the wedding, engaging in multi-comment threads with people at the wedding who are not on your friend list, etc. This is Facebook doing what it is supposed to do, finding people you might know, and is rather impressive if you think about it.

Although I support privacy rights as much as the next guy, that doesn't mean everything you do must be done in private. Most of the time it doesn't matter, no one cares what you do with your Saturday, except (maybe) your friends and family. There is an inherent degree of anonymity in a crowd. To believe everyone is intently watching you is a sign of paranoia. (not accusing you of this, but would certainly apply to some other posters).

Separate your private life from Facebook and you have no problems.

That isn't to say that there aren't potential moral issues with the way FB uses your data (against your consent, violating previous agreements, etc.), but if you find you don't like it, simply don't participate. It is a voluntary service, after all.
