also has "instrumental value". That means, as long as it can be used to transfer money or make electronic transactions, it has use and therefore has value. If people are unable to use it anymore, then the value goes to 0. Gold and Silver can not be traded very easily across state or national boarders, while you don't have to leave your seat with bitcoins.
