Gary Taubes showed several examples

Gary Taubes showed several examples of how various peoples who had never had much starch in their diets. After being introduced to a high starch diet (like places with drouths receiving grain shipments from the US) many of these people almost immediately blew up like balloons, especially the women, and had all sorts of health problems. Often while eating less than 2000 calories per day. So you can be malnourished and way overweight at the same time. This seems to prove that it's where the calories come from that counts and that obesity is not necessarily an issue of gluttony.

Some people, and I am not one of them, seem to be able to handle starches better than others. And some people need to run screaming from starches and pretend they never knew they existed.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.
