making modern healthcare a

making modern healthcare a "right" to be guaranteed by the government is contradictory to the spirit of liberty. Amending the Constitution in this manner would fly against fundamental ideas of coercion in making others pay. Also people must have have vested interest in the cost of procedures. If they do not they will not value the money they are spending on their care as ultimately it has no direct cost to them even by percentage.

Making the government the largest purchaser should not be likened to a business using economy of scale as some super entity. Remember that same government would also still be the entity regulating these same insurance providers. Corruption would rule without hope. The governments only role should be that of a referee in matters of contract stipulated by the Constitution.

All of the free market ideas I like but I guess that stands to reason.

“Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian.” ― Henry Ford.
