"Battlestar Galactica" (Sy fy) and direct to video

The humans are frequently portrayed as just as brutal and less sympathetic than the Cylons and raises many spiritual questions, as well. However, at least one of the direct-to-video films contains grapic sex and nudity (though, not the gore) on the level of, say, "Starship Troopers".

Chinese historical films, especially "Red Cliff, Parts I and II" and "Hero". These films will teach you about "the art of war" and "no-win" choices than any you will see in U.S. cinema. They are also both romantic and action-packed. The "Red Cliff" films are also fairly gory.

I also like "Dexter" (a serial killer who dispenses "justice" while working for the Miami PD) and "Californication," (about a depraved writer who lives amongst the depravity of Hollywood). Both series will teach you more about humanity and genuine feelings than any of the generic stuff coming out of Hollywood). Of course, both are also extremely raunchy, fitting the subject matter.
