Comment: "Love your enemies,

(See in situ)

"Love your enemies,

bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you." St Matthew 5:44, from Jesus' 'Sermon on the Mount'.

Jesus defines how we are to love this way: Love your neighbor as yourself. We are to love others as much as we love ourselves, which is quite a lot! Jesus also put it this way: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

As a nation, collectively, a way of living this out toward the remaining bomber would be to provide him a FAIR trial--no legal funny business to get a preconceived verdict. He must be treated with respect, as a human being made in the image of God--no torture or abuse. The Bill of Rights must be applied to him in full. The media can love the enemy by treating him as they would want to be treated if they were in his shoes.

As individuals who are not personally responsible for his care and trial, our job is to make sure the authorities and his care-takers apply these values. It is our place to make sure that they bless him by treating him better than he treated us, and doing no harm to him while he is in custody even though he harmed us (this has nothing to do with sentimentalism, because if he is found to be guilty the lawful punishment must be applied.)
