There is a time and place for

There is a time and place for everything, as Solomon says in Ecclesiastes, a time for peace and a time for war.

Scripture is supposed to be understood spiritually, not literally like the Pharisees did, or the hypocritical trying to use it against Christians, but as God intends it - for it's God we answer to, not men or evil spirits, even if they are quoting scripture.

Sometimes, punishing a person does good. Such as spanking your kid. Or arresting a criminal. Or a rod for the back of a fool (proverbs). This is not evil, it's good and being protective, if it's the right thing according to God.

A legalize sense ignores the spirit of it.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
