By expecting these guys to have a chance to defend themselves?
I don't think so.
The majority of Americans have crossed the line by wanting to deprive people of their rights. And considering that half of the amendments in the BOR were written to make sure that EVERYONE - NO MATTER THE CRIME - had those rights, I think this was an issue VERY important to our founders.
Because they knew, from personal experience, that when the government has the authority to be judge, jury, and executioner, that puts EVERYONE in danger by virtue of having an opinion. As a mother of 4, that doesn't sit right with me.
