here are some of my favs

Kerouac is my all time favorite author and I can and have read him again and again - he actually replaced Kafka for me. The imagery he creates is unparrarelled and I think his best books are
Visions of Gerard
Desolation Angels

For a fun read it's Charles Bukowski's Post Office, though anything by him is great.

And finally, Wittgenstein's Mistress because it made me ponder. I don't know what about, but it definitely touched me.
