"An attack on Israel is an attack on America"

"peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none."

-Thomas Jefferson

"An attack on Israel is an attack on America" seems to me like a pretty big "entangling alliance"... Why should I go to war or suffer the consequences of America being at war because of the interests of a country which I consider a criminal entity. Removing Saddam, killing and dying in Iraq and fueling even more anti-American sentiment in the region in the process, for them was enough don't you think? Besides, regardless of my opinion about Israel, they're a sovereign nation and it is up to them to deal with any and all situations that they create, not up to the US.
