This story is a form of ritual abuse. It is used to create traumatic cognitive dissonance with regard to the subject matter. It literally changes the way you think about guns on a biologic level. Showing up to school with a shotgun behind the seat was a very common thing, even when I was a kid. Now, whether you are pro gun or anti gun, you will experience an altered thought process when you encounter these types of formerly common and benign situations. That is the whole purpose of these ridiculous stories, there is an agenda behind them, they don't make it in front of your eyes for nothing.
Eric Holder said we need "brainwash" people into thinking differently about guns, and that is what is happening, even to you and I, as we react to these stories. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nM0asnCXD0)
