English and German speak of "Easter"...

... which may very well derive from the name of a pagan Germanic goddess. In other languages, a variant of Pascha (derived from "Passover") is used; in still other languages, "Great Day," "Great Night," or "Resurrection" are spoken of. Regardless, the intent of the heart is to celebrate Christ's resurrection, as shown by the other posts on this thread.

As to precisely when Christ rose, I know that some Christians favor Saturday, but I remain unpersuaded concerning the Biblical merits of that view. I fail to see why it makes any real difference which day we observe.
