There are some who do that, but most of the arguments against macro-evolution are based on meta-science and science and not religion.

Usually the anti-religious equivocate when using the term evolution. The issue at hand only pertains to macro-evolution, but the assertion is made that religious people reject 'evolution', and then evidence for micro-evolution is generally presented. Meanwhile probably nobody rejects the idea of micro-evolution. So in general, they don't really address the issue and they misrepresent the people they criticize.
