There are no GOOD or BAD laws.
Laws are either JUST or UNJUST.
For or against whom? Individuals, and their rights.
Laws or governments do NOT grant rights. We are born with rights, very few of them, but very powerful: life, property, free will and speech, self defense.
I don't have the "right" to be heterosexual. No more than others have the "right" to be gay.
It is only WHO we are. Deny that, and it's injustice, plunder, slavery, you name it.
Governments cannot be "better" than others.
Government is FORCE. Pure force the people tolerate to have the law with force, too.
What is the History lesson?
Big government INVARIABLY LEADS to the Law Perverted.
The UNJUST law.
When Law ceases to be about justice and seeks for something else, behind the veil.
When Law becomes A TOOL for force against individuals or minorities.
The Law ought to be JUSTICE. Exclusively justice. NOTHING else.
Not planning. Not social. Not welfare. Not morality. Not education. No ... Nothing.
Yes, as shocking as it sounds : we are all "immoral", somehow, to someone else's morality.
And so what? As long as the only legitimate defining authority for morality is... yourself, in and for your family.
The only morality of the just laws is found in protecting the rights enumerated above. And only those.
Beyond that, man IS BUT A REED, feeble, imperfect, but man is a THINKING reed : we can talk to each other, understand each other, forgive, etc.
Our grandeur is in striving to think WELL, with Justice.
Thank you, Pascal. Thank you, Bastiat. Thank you, founding fathers.
But WHAT is JUSTICE, Cyril?
Punish he or she who uses force to deny or ignore someone else's right(s).
Punish he or she who steals, harms, kills, or subjects others.
Q.E.D. for recognizing the JUST Law.
Back to the point in context:
Having Putin, the Russian government, and RT with an agenda denouncing the infamy of ObaMARX or the Israhellish govt does not make them "better".
They are useful, maybe, to the cause of liberty, but this cause STILL requires understanding the dire need to return to small government and just laws.
Not to trade one form of big government and influence for yet another.
"Cyril" pronounced "see real". I code stuff. I care quite a bit about language.
