The snail does not carry meningitis. Meningitis is the inflammation of the meninges, the membranes that cover the central nervous system. An organism can carry a pathogen that can cause meningitis. The way this sensational piece described it would be like saying "it can carry gingitivis." It sounds ridiculous. There a species of bacteria called Neisseria meningitis, but this was not what they were referring to. This shows that the people involved in this story didn't even bother to spend 30 seconds researching facts. Typical MSM unprofessionalism.
