But you can agree in contract to give up the protection of those rights. This is what it means to be a US citizen. A maxim in law is that if you receive a benefit, you must pay the price. This may not represent a "valid" contract, as all the terms may not have been presented to you with respect to citizenship, but the hill to climb is a high one to unravel its byzantine antecedents and and prove otherwise in a system that doesn't support you.
