"Comments are the copyright

"Comments are the copyright of the commenter, posts are copyright of the poster, DP has absolutely no liability for me saying so-and-so has bad breath".

The issue is treated differently all over the world. The laws and rules change all the time. You can win your case and still have tens of thousands in legal bills. I have a $19,000 legal bill from 4 years ago to prove it. It was over a copyrighted file uploaded to my site.

"The courts have long held that anyone having direct responsibility for a publication is legally liable for it, so if your blog or comment is on the website or social media site of another organisation, both you as the writer and whoever is hosting your work can be sued for defamation".
