You went in a different direction with the analogy than I

expected.

I thought you were going to go with something about how the dogs wait in inaction, not taking any action other than waiting, for their master to return and 'bark' orders at them as to what they should do, this instead of taking the actions they should know their master expects of them.

So too, do people today, rather than 'being the change they want to see' in the world they instead sit on their hands waiting for instruction from their lost Dauphin/leader/messiah.
