Giving Up Rights

Through contract one can relinquish the right to have them protected by the government?

Rights can't be relinquished, privileges can be.

It seems to me that we don't have the right to be protected by the government; we pay them a protection fee for the privilege of being left alone by them.

If we want our rights protected we have the right to do so, as described in the 2nd Amendment. The right to defense cannot be relinquished, it's our choice to roll over and let anyone have their way with us or stand up and fight.
