Bill Maher is an interesting example. He regularly makes such bizarre comments, one wonders how he keeps a show. The day the US-weapons-to-Syria announcement went out, Maher had three aggressive and nuanced apologists for US intervention. The segment is like an intelligence op, with sophisticated, layered positions, as if to to inject a complex suggestion to a mass audience. Is this a price Maher pays for his program, to host key guests at important moments? There is no way Bill Maher scheduled these guests. Funny, because he gets applause for a Ron Paul line.
