Why I'm a libertarian.
I believe that people are most happy when they're productive members of society, and they help people who need it face-to-face. I believe that people are the most productive when everything they make is theirs to use as they see fit, and there is no incentive to be idle.
Outsourcing charity (welfare) detaches us from the people we want to help. Taking someone's stuff (income tax) hurts the ability for someone to "do something with their life". If we are free to do what we want with our lives as long as we do not harm others, I think we'll all be happier people, even those in need of some help, because happy people are more likely to help others. That's why I'm a libertarian.
