Romanticism, devoid of rational consideration of real conditions, leads to violence, reverts to tribal social instincts, and generally defeats harmony, peace, and industry in human society.
Life is hard, complicated, and often sucks. In fact, lots of people are profoundly selfish and irrational, many downright pathological. Only a very devoted attention to basic principles of law, right, morality, etc. can produce conditions of peace and harmony. In addition, without general prosperity to 'grease the skids', some amount of oppression also seems kind of necessary in promoting peace.
I'm just saying that peace has never been achieved by dreamers who preach. Really, it has been the preacher who dream - the hard nosed, loud, stubborn, tough, moral thinkers, and their vision, which has led to peace.
