amateur radio digital communications

Here in Pennsylvania, I head up a working group where we hold a weekly net using the free NBEMS software. With our computers connected to our radios, we exchange messages and files over about a 300 mile range with nothing more than some modest transceivers (100 watts) and homemade wire antennas. It's lots of fun and good to know that you can move information in the absence of telecommunications infrastructure and commercial power. Check out "NBEMS" on the internet and youtube and paNBEMS on yahoo groups.
