Some people smoke weed and others smoke tobacco so the police can't tell who's smoking what. Even if everyone did smoke weed, what would it matter if he did or did not? He doesn't have to smoke it if he doesn't want to. The whole point is to enable people to smoke in public. The fact that he was assaulted by the police for nothing makes the situation even worse and more significant. I want pot legalized, but I don't smoke it. Does that make me a traitor? He would be a traitor if he did something like snitch on his fellow activists or work for a government bureau or something that would empower the state. Your outrage is overblown and misguided.
