For a liberty related book, I'd suggest "Family Of Secrets" by Russ Baker, or "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by G Edward Griffin.

For a "regular" book, I'd suggest "The Picture Of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. As a sample of his style, below are some quotes of his that I like (not sure which books they're from though).

“The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.”

“I don't want to go to heaven. None of my friends are there.”
