Best fiction I've ever read

Les Miserables -- hailed as the best novel ever written by some critics. The story is epic, an unabridged version is usually over 1400 pages. Most movies based on the book are very abreviated (and for me, disappointing) because you can't fit a 1400 page story into a two or even three or four hour movie. An amazing read.

The Leatherstocking series by James Fenimore Cooper: Last of the Mohicans, Deerslayer, Pathfinder, The Pioneers and The Prairie. About the fascinating life and times of Nathaniel Bumppo, aka, Hawkeye.
