...for the sake of argument, there really is a Kingdom of God, which will transcend all of the temporary empires and nations of humanity at some point, and if we are all indeed sons and daughters of the King, then surely at some point we will consider it patriotism to honor that Kingdom, even if we don't see it that way now.
You could also look at it from the angle of a people in a nation seeking God through a spiritual revival, which would have ripple effects of blessings on the nation -- so in that sense your worship and self-reform and character-building would strengthen the nation. You could call that 'patriotic' I suppose?
It just sounds odd to put it that way, though -- not what we're used to hearing.
And, of course, if you just think God and His Kingdom and blessings are just a bunch of hogwash, then you'll definitely roll your eyes at such a 'silly' notion.
