It seems to me that those students were trapped in a "gun-free" campus with no defenses. I fail to see how that policy helped them in any way. It got a lot of people killed. Virginia is a shall-issue concealed carry state, for everybody except those kids.

Putting guns in the hands of faculty in Israel has saved lives, and stopped school shootings. If this works in the climate of Israel, it can work here.
I don't think it's fair to say that people are too stupid to own guns. Most Americans outside the big cities own guns, and it's not the wild west.
