In 2008 when Ron Paul clashed with Rudy Giuliani on blowback/9-11 I was 17 years old and watching with my parents. I clearly remember saying out loud "Fuck that guy, who does Mr. Paul think he is to talk that way about 9-11??".
However I kept listening to him the rest of the debate and while I wasn't ready to admit it to anyone at the time. I thought he made a lot of sense by the end of the debate. Ron Paul made me think and planted a small seed of liberty in me that wouldn't truly bloom until four years later.
I sometimes wonder if most libertarians would agree with George W. Bush if he was reading directly from Ron Paul's farewell speech. It seems to me that most libertarians hold some sort of prejudice to anyone they think isn't a pure-blood libertarian.
The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson
