The power of God is "awesome". I belive that is where the

fear part comes in. Bad analogy but, here goes: Think of a pot of boiling water on the stove. The cooled, sterilized water has many benefits (cleaning wounds, safe drinking, etc.). It's also got great benefits when used piping hot (to make coffee, tea, soups, etc.). As beneficial as that hot, boiling water is, you don't want to have it spill or splash on you for obvious reasons. So, you demonstrate "respect" for the boiling water in the way you are careful about handling it, because you need that "awesome" water and "fear" the consequences of mishandling it.

Okay, I know it's not a great example but, the idea is there and gets the concept of "fear" across. You would dread the consequences of not respecting the awesome power of boiling water.
