I find it so ironic that liberty lovers seem to love Andrew Jackson.

1. As leader in New Orleans during and after the war of 1812, he had NO QUALMS about declaring essentially martial law.

2. From my reading of his letters and biographies of Jackson, the only reason he really wanted to get rid of the bank was that HE did not have control of it.

3. Sorry, but the Cherokee affair and the killing of the indians you mentioned was not only racist, but utter cronyism and complete disrespect of private property (of the Indians).

But, with so little to be proud of, I guess it should come as no surprise he is liked here.
