The problem with Rand is that he has chosen the mainstream approach, which means when he makes the philosophical argument, people like Christie get to point out where he is not philosophically pure. At which point Rand has to reply with political spin and rhetoric, like the Bacon king comment. Its a catch 22 for Rand. Once he gives up the high ground of philosophical purity and consistency, he is forced to compete in the domain of spin and rhetoric. I hope he can find the perfect combination of the two, but its not an easy line to walk.
