I am not an apologist for police abuse

I have personal experience. I was once pulled off the street by an officer and taken to a location in private where I was choked by the officer. Afterwards, he handcuffed me before dumping a beer on my head and taking me to jail on a variety of false charges that were subsequently dropped. Miranda rights didn't exactly enter into the equation for me.

What I experienced was certainly abuse on many levels. The officer I had the misfortune to encounter was an out of control criminal thug. What I saw in the video were officers who were somewhat polite and simply not wanting to deal with traffic issues. It sounded like there was traffic backed up and they mentioned an accident happening because of it. They didn't pull out tasers and start beating people, they politely asked them to move to avoid traffic issues.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.
