Im not the best at math, but something seems off to me.

49,000 is a huge number. When it says 30 out of a population of 100,000, is that population only counting veterans?
If it is, then that would mean that there's a shit ton of veterans out there. Correct my math if I am wrong as that is a strong possibility:

30 out of every 100,000 = 1 out of every 3,333.

If 49,000 have committed suicide, then we can multiply that number by 3,333 to get a total veteran population of 163,317,000. That's roughly half of the entire us population which Im pretty positive is not the case.

Again, if I am wrong, please correct me. In any event, it's clear that suicide is a way bigger threat to the US than terrorism.
