I read a story about one of the drone pilots who had killed some enormous numbers of people.
Maybe the above is the link, I don't recall, precisely. Kids that age are very impressionable and they have the need to make the transition to 'manhood', and get the approval of parents and peers. They have no information base to make informed decisions and need guidance from their parents.
If my son wanted to do this, I would break his kneecaps to prevent him from going. Your son will come back safe physically, but I do believe that killing people has bad psychological/spiritual/karma effects on the person responsible, and these stay with you as long as you live. I would never put a son of mine in that position. Our first duty is to protect our children.
