The issue is unity of the Body. One Faith One Lord One Baptism.

The name Messianic Jew strikes at the heart of the apostle Paul's teaching about the unity of the Body of Christ. After all we don't say Christian Gentiles although the expression Christian Jews does exist along with Jews for Jesus. Once we are "in Christ" then we are all one regardless of our antecedents. That is the teaching of the apostles. There was the same problem in the apostolic era which is why Paul taught against it.

We are all also Jews since the name of Jew goes with the King of the Jews, the Lion of Judah. Those who call themselves Jews are a synagogue of satan as the apostle John pointed out, referring to their opposition to the Gospel which they had rejected. (The name satan means adversary as you know I am sure.)

The Lord Jesus Himself connected satan with the thoughts of men on at least two separate occasions that I can recall. In other words the adversary works through the carnal mind and we know that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. So by connecting the name Messiah with the name Jew referring to the previous religion of the believer the term is no longer a tautology it becomes an oxymoron.

This short booklet is a good summary of "Who is a Jew?'

Some things are comfortable for the natural mind to embrace and believe. The religion of Judaism is antithetical to Christianity. The whole point of the controversy in the first century Church was that the religion of the Pharisees had corrupted the Word of God (as Jesus Himself taught) and the New Covenant teaching could not be connected with the teachings of the rabbis. The Lord Jesus could not simply be tacked on to Judaism.

Modern Judaism has gone even further in that direction and is based on the Talmud which is specifically anti-Christian even picturing Jesus as being in Hell boiling in excrement. It also teaches re-incarnation, a Hindu and Buddhist concept and nothing to do with Christian faith in the Resurrection. If your parents have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord then they must depart from Judaism once they have been told the conflict that exists between the two teachings.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)
