The priesthood was not

The priesthood was not eliminated as evidenced by Christ Himself commissioning the Apostles to go forth Baptizing, giving the Holy Spirit , healing and forgiving sins in His name. The Apostles works were just as after Christ's redemption as Catholic priest are today, and both are exactly what God intended for the world.

In rejecting Christ's flesh you reject Christ's words not the Catholic Church's.

Jesus: "Take, eat; this is my body." - was Jesus lying?

Jesus: "For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed."

I couldn't make the point more clearly if I tried. He even emphasizes He is speaking literally by putting "indeed" at the end of each phrase.

Jesus: "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him."

John 6: "Many of his disciples, when they heard it, said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at it, said to them, "Do you take offense at this? [] After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him."

Some people refuse to accept Christ's gift and walk away, notice He lets them go and does not try stopping them to explain it was all just a figure of speech.

Like then, there are many today, even this very day, how hear Christ's words but refuse the accept them and walk away.
