Nationalism is collectivism. To paraphrase Rothbard, when you think about international politics in terms of individuals and not abstract collectivisms such as "countries" or "states," suddenly "America sent an army to invade Syria," becomes "a handful of these 315,000,000 persons sent these 100,000 persons to conquer these 22,000,000 persons."

It's an illusion to make us feel patriotic about being controlled.
