Kelly recently attended one of the Cherokee County Libertarian meetings where the topic was The Rule of Law, by Richard Arena. She and a few others had some great things to say about the group and we were able to discuss what TMOT is describing for a bit.
For those that think County Politics are any less ugly than that at the State or Federal Level, it is time to think again. While most County budgets are not in the hundreds of Billions of Federal Reserve Units, they are in the Billions and Cherokee's school budget is just over $500,000,000. The opportunity for Waste, Fraud, and Abuse is more than available.
What Kelly did was, as TMOT explained, was to ask for an itemized statement of a $9,000,000 write-off. She made no accusations, she made no threats, she simply asked for an identification of what looked like an opportunity to avoid waste in the future. $9,000,000 in write-offs for "Operational Costs" would not, in her thoughts, be something her constituents would be happy seeing on a regular basis.
The Establishment Republicans on the CC School Board, who favor No Child Left Behind and Common Core, have done a pretty successful job at marginalizing her complaint by ad hominem. Oddly they are censuring her for not adhering to a State Law that requires Board members to put the district's 'children' above the constituents. This sounds a lot like Pre-War Germany's laws regarding the safety and education of children.
