if your life depends upon it.
Those who choose Ignorance over Enlightenment will likely pay a higher price for everything. Enlightenment, in most cases, does not come from a singular epiphany, but rather a series of lessons that build upon each other. Practice and Reflection are necessary to retain most lessons.
The Enlightened Man/Woman is not disposed to suffer as much as the Ignorant, simply because Invention and Innovation reveal possibilities that would otherwise be hidden.
That is not to say that Bliss cannot be enjoyed by the Enlightened, it just means that when push comes to shove, the Enlightened can straighten up quickly in order to deal with the situation at hand.
What you are describing in practical terms is Growing Up. That is why we so often hear Adults telling children not to be in too much of a hurry to grow up. Reality is life is often challenging and not so fair. Youth and innocence are difficult if not impossible to recover.
While Ignorance is Bliss, it also leaves one quite Defenseless and Dependent in what can be often a dog eat dog world.
