If you're suggesting that Ron Paul (not Rand) was saying something he didn't believe, in order to make a make a point about foreign policy, I just don't believe you. Rand might do that. But Ron? He would have found an artful way to express it all in terms of "we hear" this or "they say" that, as he's done on other occasions to poke holes in bad arguments. But he doesn't say things he doesn't believe just to make a point.
He's also very careful about what he says, and what he said was very limited in scope. It certainly doesn't mean that he's agreeing with the official story in its entirety, he doesn't come close to saying anything of the sort. He meant what he said, nothing more and nothing less.
